Michael Messina, M.D.

Michael Messina, M.D. knew from a very young age that he wanted to study the human body.  Upon achieving his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering, he followed his calling by continuing his education into medical school and then ultimately in dermatology residency training. Dr. Messina believes “the skin is just another doorway into a person's body and mind.”  He is fascinated to see “how so many aliments that affect the body, manifest through the skin”.

Working with experts in Mohs surgery, psoriasis, cutaneous T-cell lymphoma, and pediatric dermatology, have made Dr. Michael Messina, the dermatologist he is today.  He is close to the new and emerging medicines, treatments, and technologies available for treating the most common, and not so common conditions, that are seen in dermatology. He has authored several journal entries related to his research in dermatology and has presented at numerous Dermatology Society meetings. He wrote the chapter on ‘Evidence Based Medicine’ in the textbook, “Therapeutic Evidence in Dermatology”, (2nd Edition).      

In Dr. Messina’s spare time he continues to inspire his surrounding community with his knowledge and passion of dermatology. He has participated in free skin cancer screenings through the American Academy of Dermatology, participated in Miles for Melanoma, and has worked at Camp Discovery where children with rare genetic diseases gather to learn about healthy skin living.
